Nomination for new committee members.

The 2016 FIT committee is calling for nominations for a range of committee positions, to be elected at the AGM.

President’s message

Many current committee members plan to renominate for 2017; however, others are stepping down. FIT members can nominate for any position on the committee and a vote will be taken at the meeting. However,  positions which are becoming vacant are:

  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Membership Officer
  • Policy and Insurance Officer

The positions carry a good degree of responsibility, with FIT a legal entity established under the Associations Incorporations Act 1991. For a copy of the rules governing FIT, and further information about the responsibilities of the committee, please see FIT’s policies available here.  It is critical that these positions are filled to ensure that FIT remains a functional club.

Current committee members are all available to chat with any FIT members who are interested in nominating for a committee position. Please send an email with your phone number to enquiries@fitact.org.au and a committee member will be in touch.

During 2016, in addition to overseeing membership, policy updates and continuation of our regular activities and programs, the committee has:

  • developed a new strategic plan for the next three year period (fit-strategic-plan-final-2016)
  • celebrated our 20th anniversary
  • developed a new website and strengthened communication channels within the club.

There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to keep FIT running (and swimming, and cycling and water-running). While there are often a lot of challenging issues to be researched, discussed and decided by the committee, being a part of the committee is also a rewarding and satisfying experience and provides you with a chance to give back to the club that gives so much.

Being a part of the committee enables you to have your say about the broader strategic direction of the club, to help shape its future, and to contribute to its continued success as a vibrant, social and supportive sporting and triathlon club.

There are summary position descriptions for the full range of committee positions, along with the nomination form available below:

Please consider nominating yourself for one of these positions, and feel free to chat to any current or previous committee members or non-committee volunteers for further information.

Please provide your completed nomination form to enquiries@fitact.org.au by Saturday 12 November 2016.
