Women’s safety in public places

Do you walk, cycle, or do other activities in public spaces? Do you use a pram, walking aid, or wheelchair, or have other mobility or accessibility needs that make a difference to feeling safe in public spaces?

The Women’s Centre for Health Matters (WCHM) is providing information to the ACT Government on areas that need improvement for public safety, in particular safety for women.

The WCHM is aiming to ensure that any development in Canberra allows women to feel as safe as possible, but to do that they need your help to make Canberra safe for all!  The WCHM is seeking feedback on where women in Canberra feel safe or unsafe, and why you feel that way, to develop an understanding of what needs to be done to improve Canberra for everyone.

Do you walk, cycle, or do other activities in public spaces? Do you use a pram, walking aid, or wheelchair, or have other mobility or accessibility needs that make a difference to feeling safe in public spaces?

The WCHM is particularly looking for information about how women feel in Gungahlin, Woden, Mawson and Macarthur Avenue as the these are the areas currently under review.

See the WCHM Safety Mapping Tool and have your voice heard! We want this to be a city where everyone feels safe! http://www.wchm.org.au/safetymapping/
