Spring Cycling resumes 1 September

Intermediate/Advanced

  • Friday rides resume from 1 September Don’t forget there’s also an intermediate ride Friday!
  • Wednesday morning rides will resume on 6 September.

Novice/Flat-bar

  • Coached rides resume Friday 1 September. The first few weeks will be skills focused so perfect if you’ve had a bit of a winter break.

Saturday Run – 19 August

MEET: 7.30am, Equinox Park, 70 Kent Street, Deakin

RUN: Deakin to Weston Park (9.55km)

BREAKFAST:  EQ Cafe, 70 Kent Street

RUN DETAILS:

  • From  EQ head north along Kent St and take right onto track after crossing Adelaide Avenue at Kinross St.
  • Cross Kinross and pick up bike path through parkland and past Yarralumla Public school to lake.
  • At lake turn left and another right at Weston Park entrance gate and head into Weston Park keeping the water on your right.
  • On re-joining the main path turn left and past the Weston Park gate then retrace route

Saturday Run – 12 August

MEET: 7.30am, Battye Street Bruce

(Intersection of Leverrier Crescent, South of the AIS – Park near the Athletics Stadium)

RUN: AIS to Lake Ginninderra (9.65KM)

BREAKFAST:  Two Before Ten, 68 Bandjalong Crescent, Aranda

RUN DETAILS:

  • From Battye Street follow the Centenary Trail signs south west then through Bruce Ridge between Calvary Hospital and Purdue Street Bruce.
  • Cross Hayden Drive and pick up the Centenary Trail to head north turning before reaching Radford College and then West and South.
  • Climb up a hill and go past an open area and descend and turn left.
  • Run west parallel to College St and turn right at the swimming pool and along Eastern Valley Way.
  • After crossing Emu Bank run towards Lake Gininderra past Gininderra college.
  • On reaching John Knight Park turn and retrace your steps

Saturday Run – 5 August

MEET: 7.30am, Walt and Burley, Kingston Foreshore (free parking Saturday morning in front of Glass Works)

RUN: East Basin via the Wetlands (10km)

BREAKFAST:  gryphons, griffith shops

RUN DETAILS:

  • From Kingston Foreshore head along Eastlake Parade then turn left onto Eyre Street
  • At the end of Eyre Street take the path into the wetlands.
  • Follow this path around the wetlands arriving at a car park.
  • Cross the car park and continue on bike path parallel to the old Dairy Flat Road.
  • Cross the Molonglo River and veer left onto bike path running along the north bank of the river.
  • Follow this until Kings Avenue Bridge, run under the bridge and loop back up and right onto the bridge and cross the lake. Veer right after bridge cross at the underpass) and back to lake edge. Turn right and follow lake back to Bowen Park, turn right, cross Wentworth Avenue and back to Telopea Park (10.1 km).

SATURDAY RUN – 29 JULY

MEET: 7.30am, Athlon Drive – (heading south, Just past the last houses in Farrer, turn left at dirt road to small car park)

RUN:  Farrer to Isaacs Ridge (12.5KM)

BREAKFAST:  Space Kitchen

RUN DETAILS:

Out and back hilly run along the back of the houses in Farrer to Isaacs Pine Forest:

  • Head over animal barrier and follow dirt trail behind the houses.
  • Head up hill to water reservoir and keep to main trail.
  • Once leaving bush and near Yamba Drive take a sharp right and go under Yamba Drive and veer left.
  • Stay on the fire trail through the Isaacs pine plantation; the plantation finishes and houses of Isaacs are on your left.
  • Turn and retrace steps once your reach the end of the houses of Isaacs
