FIT COACHING CORNERFIT support our coaches by contributing to the cost of training, accreditation and insurance. It is the responsibility of each coach to maintain their accreditation and insurance and then to seek the appropriate reimbursement. Are you interested in helping out at FIT training sessions? In FIT we have a large number of members who have a wide variety of experience, knowledge and other talents. If you have benefited from FIT training programs and/or coaching and would like to help out new participants at FIT we'd love to hear from you. It is always great to have new people help out who have some knowledge of swimming, cycling or running (you don't need to be an expert to be able to help out), and a keenness to encourage others to improve. You don't need to be a great athlete yourself, because it is great to have 'average' people who have managed to learn to swim, cycle or run, and have reached their goals. You can be a great motivator for other novices. We will not drop you in the deep end, and you can start by observing and helping an experienced trainer. You can then gradually learn how the training is conducted. If you have already been training with FIT then you may already know more than you think! If you are keen, you can always progress to getting more formal coaching qualifications. If you are interested in helping out in one or more of the disciplines, please contact coaching coordinator Sandy Waters on email sandy.watersAThealth.gov.au or any of the other coaches.
Supporting our FIT coachesBackground: Females in Training (FIT) relies heavily on the involvement of our coaches to support our members in their training pursuits, and to help conduct the Club's weekly training sessions and our annual training programmes. Our Club has been founded on the philosophy that all FIT administrators and coaches undertake their roles on a voluntary basis. This helps the Club to achieve its outcomes, whilst still being able to maintain our annual membership fees at a low and affordable rate. However, the Club understands the time commitments involved in coaches obtaining accreditation, as well as the high cost often involved in meeting accreditation requirements and maintaining appropriate insurance coverage. To support our coaches in this regard the FIT committee has endorsed the following policy in relation to coaching costs for our members. Policy
