FIT Spring/Summer Programs

The days are getting longer and the mornings are getting warmer (well, a bit) and that means it’s time to get into some fun new fitness activities. Females in Training (FIT) has a range of programs planned for this spring and summer, catering for all abilities in different disciplines. Check out the new programs and sign up for one (or more) this year!

Rookie Trail Running is a 10-week beginner program for those who are new to trail running, targeting the 10km distance at the Stromlo Running Festival held 24 November 2019. The program suits those who have some experience running, e.g. they can run 5km comfortably; or they are looking to improve their running on trails.

Start date: 16 September, 2019

Cost: $50 program fee + $55 FIT membership fee for new members + event entry

Numbers will be limited to 25 participants

Registration opens 2 September

Rookie Swimming is an intensive swimming program for women who are beginner swimmers. The program is great for women wanting to gain confidence in the water, particularly in the lead up to the Women’s Triathlon Training Program (WTTP) – see below. It is ideal for women who would like to consider the WTTP but feel that they can’t because they cannot confidently swim freestyle at all, or for more than 25 metres. We aim to teach you to feel confident in the water and to develop your freestyle technique even if you don’t want to join the WTTP.

Start date: 16 September, 2019

Cost: $50  program fee + $55 FIT membership fee for new members

Numbers will be limited to 12 participants

Registration now open

WTTP The Women’s Triathlon Training Program (WTTP) is a training program run by Females in Training (FIT) as an introduction into the sport of triathlon. The program offers training sessions in each of the three triathlon disciplines (swimming, cycling and running) in a friendly and encouraging environment. The WTTP is open to all women over the age of 18.

This year, the WTTP will run for 8 weeks from Monday 14 October, with the aim of participating in the Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon on 30 November. The final week of the program will focus on transitioning participants from dedicated WTTP training to regular FIT activities in all 3 disciplines.
