What is Rookie Trail Running?
A 10 week beginner program for those who are new to trail running targeting the 10km distance at the Stromlo Running Festival held 24 November 2019.
What equipment do I need?
Running shoes are essential, or trail running shoes if you have them. FIT will organise an opportunity to learn about trail running shoe options early in the program.
Who should register?
The program suits those who have some experience running, e.g. they can run 5km comfortably, or they are looking to improve their running on trails.
What is the commitment?
The program starts in the week of 16 September 2019.
There will be three organised training sessions per week. Tuesday mornings 6.30am at Lennox Gardens, Thursday mornings 6am at the Arboretum, and Saturday mornings 7.30am at either the Saturday FIT run or a nearby trail alternative when the run is on paths.
There will be an optional fourth run on Sundays as well as suggested strengthening/stretching exercises throughout the week, which participants can fit into their schedules.
What is the cost?
The program cost is $50.
FIT membership is $55 per year, and you must be a member of FIT to register (membership info). FIT membership does not include personal accident or third-party liability insurance.
