Christmas run and Secret Santa

The FIT annual Christmas run and breakfast will be held on 17 December – see details here.

This year, FIT will be supporting the Domestic Violence Crisis Centre’s Secret Santa appeal to Give Good this Christmas and contribute to the lives of children escaping domestic and family violence who are placed into emergency accommodation.

Recommended items to purchase are listed at the DVCC’s Ideal Items to Donate (Children). We will be collecting items at the event, but also at Tuesday running up to the last session for the year (20 December).

DVCS staff use the donated items to create packs to provide to children (toddlers to teens) when they are placed into emergency accommodation.

Often children placed into emergency accommodation do not have access to their clothing, toys, books or items of comfort.  Some children remain in emergency accommodation for up to five weeks (or even more).

Please note: To ensure the safety and well-being of recipients, who are often experiencing trauma, grief and/or loss, while in emergency accommodation, we are only able to accept new and unused items in accordance with the items listed. Please do not include any items that are not on the list, we can’t use them and they will be disposed of.
