The 2016 Tour de Femme is a women’s-only 24km ride that doubles as both a race and a participation event, being held on Sunday 20 November.
Entry to the Tour de Femme is via the Canberra Cycling Club.
FIT is running a 4-week training program for riders who would like to prepare for the Tour De Femme. Sessions will be Mondays 6.00-7.15am, on 24, 31 October, and 7 and 14 November at West Block Carpark (21 Queen Victoria Terrace, Parkes, ACT).
Stream 1 – Rookie Skills
This stream focuses on individual skill development, confidence building, and riding safely around others (on road/paths). The program suits those wanting to brush up on their skills or who haven’t ridden for a while (it is not suitable for complete beginners). All bike types are OK.
Stream 2 – Race Skills
This stream is for riders who have completed at least a FIT Novice cycling skills program (or equivalent) and who would like to prepare for the event in a group environment. The focus will be on developing more advanced bunch riding skills and introducing basic race conventions and tactics. A racing bike (curly handle bars) is required for this program.
For both streams it is important that you have a bike in good working order – take your bike for a service before the program starts.
Places in each program are limited (a minimum of 5 riders is required to go ahead).
How do I register?
To join either TDF program costs $40, and you must be a member of FIT to register ( see membership information here).
Note: FIT membership does not include personal accident or third party liability insurance, so full (Adult) Triathlon Australia membership, a Pedal Power, or Cycling Australia membership is highly recommended.
Registrations are open NOW and close 5pm 21 October.
Registrations can be accessed here.
