FIT NANA cyclists participate in the Urban Polaris

Julie and Adele from Emma’s Wednesday morning NANAs group participated in this year’s Urban Polaris event on the ANZAC day long weekend.

With the weather threatened but the rain stayed away and Adele and Julie spent 7 hours cruising Canberra looking for heritage sites from Symonston to Ngunnawal and everywhere in between.

Who knew Canberra has WWI training trenches in Jerrabomberra wetlands, or an unmarked cemetery from the 1800s in Evatt, and even a 400 million year old geological fold behind Deakin shops?

All up the girls hit 15 control points and covered about 73km. According to Adele, due to more than a few hiccups (a few crashes, a flat, an uncooperative control point and a badly timed bus ride) they weren’t challenging anyone in points, but it didn’t matter, there were still snags and beer waiting for them at the end.

Well done – it looks like a fun day out!
